Crisis can happen even to companies that have never had any problems before. For the management, whose priority is to address the crisis itself and to avert its consequences, it is not easy to find the time to communicate and the right words to be delivered, both outside of the company and internally. In that case, more than ever, you need a reliable partner and advisor. But looking for one when you are already in trouble is too late.

A well-functioning company should have crisis plan. There should be a contingency plan of steps to be taken, along with the manual which is based on it. Both should be the product of the joint work of the company and its PR agency, which will play an exceptionally important role should problems arise. It participates in formulating position statements on the problem, ensures a continuous transfer of information inside the company and outward, communicates with journalists and other target groups, monitors the media, assesses the situation, and modifies future steps accordingly. If necessary, it trains the management in how to act. Simply put: it uses all available resources in mitigating the damage.

Crisis communication management requires a wealth of know-how, long-term and consistent corporate communication, and also a cool head and the courage to adopt fast and decisive solutions. We would not wish that anyone would get into a communication crisis situation, but should it arise, we are prepared.
